How to create DJ Charts
-
Head to https://www.beatport.com/dj/charts/new and login or create your user account to get started
-
DJ charts must be created via a customer account (DJ profile), which can then be linked to your artist profile by our team here. After your accounts have been linked, DJ Charts will automatically appear on your artist page
-
If you already have a DJ profile or are using one of your artists' DJ profiles you can simply create the chart by logging into that user account
-
If there is no DJ profile or if you’re creating an account for the first time you’ll be required to set up a new DJ profile. Simply follow the steps when prompted. You’ll need to enter a DJ name (can be different from the user name) and complete the rest of the profile
-
Choose your chart name, upload a picture, and add a description
-
Please note, artist charts must use a high resolution artist picture to be considered for featuring. Charts using release artwork will not be featured
-
Add 10-20 tracks of your choice by searching the store, selecting from your cart or your purchases
-
You can also add tracks that are available for pre-order
-
You can drag and drop, remove and even preview tracks until you are 100% happy with your selection
-
Publish, and you’re ready to share your chart URL across social platforms
-
Please note: you will not be able to edit or remove the chart once it’s published
-
If you would like any of your artist’s DJ Charts to be featured, please contact your distributor, who can pitch it to their Label Manager
Here are a few tips on what kind of information to include in your pitch to your distributor:GOOD:
*3-5 big name DJs supporting your track (please see below in bad for what we do NOT consider good feedback in this regards)
*Links to big name DJs playing your track.
*Magazine and blog premiers.
*Radio coverage.
*A precise marketing plan explaining when and what will be posted where, and any money to be spent is very important.
*If you’re going to post on socials, then social media reach.
BAD:
*DJ feedback that says “downloaded for…..” this for us is not good feedback. For us it means the person listening and downloading the music for said DJs downloaded it, and not that the actual DJ liked the track. For example, for Richie Hawtin, he has a twitter feed and showing what tracks that he actually played, this would be good feedback.
*Social media and marketing campaigns listed “as usual”….we need more info than this.
*Sending the full promo campaign sheets, this is too time consuming for us to read these, we need the good bits from the promo sheets.
All this will help your feature requests be stronger, but will not guarantee a feature. These are ultimately up to the genre manager.
How to create LINK Playlists
-
LINK Playlists can be made by Labels and Artists, and are a great way to showcase your label’s catalogue to our Beatport LINK subscribers.
-
LINK playlists can be made the same way as DJ Charts
-
Playlists should be 20-100 tracks long
-
LINK Playlists are featured on genre pages. Therefore, at least two thirds of the tracks in your playlist should be in your chosen genre
-
Beatport’s Curation team chooses Artist & Label LINK Playlists to be featured on the LINK Playlists page of the Beatport website as well as on our LINK partner integrations, directly within Serato, Traktor, Rekordbox, Denon DJ, and more. You can pitch your LINK Playlist to be featured here.
Top Tip: Be sure to use a high resolution label logo to be considered for featuring
